L'Osservatorio popolare per i Beni Comuni di Bari, durante la prima tappa del tour Beni comuni in città (27 febbraio 2022), ha scelto di proseguire il proprio percorso sostenendo un piano di lavori di riqualificazione di Villa Roth. Vuole prendersi cura di un immobile pubblico della città, da salvaguardare anche per la sua bellezza architettonica.

"Siamo la comunità abitante di Villa Roth, una struttura situata nel quartiere san Pasquale di Bari risalente a fine ottocento, riconosciutaci dal Comune di Bari, nell'autunno 2015, come residenza emergenziale, al termine di una vertenza per il diritto all’abitare e all’inclusione socio-lavorativa per persone native e migranti.

Per noi abitanti di Villa Roth, in questi sette anni l'immobile è diventata una casa autogestita aperta e solidale.

Nello stabile condividiamo le stanze a disposizione e gli spazi comuni in cui ci organizziamo per sbrigare le faccende quotidiane.

Villa Roth è diventata la casa anche di altre attività: recupero di materiale in disuso a cui viene data nuova vita; lo Sportello di autodifesa sindacale di FuoriMercato, in collaborazione con il Gruppo Lavoro Rifugiati, che offre attività di orientamento lavorativo e supporto per il rilascio dei documenti e per la salvaguardia dei diritti sul lavoro.

Dopo sette anni di convivenza e gestione collettiva, le condizioni della struttura richiedono interventi di manutenzione e riqualificazione sia ordinaria che straordinaria.

Le stanze e gli ambienti comuni presentano problemi di infiltrazioni e muffe; le prese elettriche necessitano di essere sostituite; le pareti di tutto lo stabile andrebbero ritinteggiate; alcuni infissi e serrature sostituite.

In attesa di un riscontro da parte del Comune di Bari per lavori strutturali e di manutenzione straordinaria di sua competenza, abbiamo discusso e condiviso l'esigenza di avviare lavori riguardanti la manutenzione ordinaria.

Noi abitanti di Villa Roth ci occuperemo dello svolgimento dei lavori, insieme al supporto di tutte quelle persone e realtà solidali cittadine e non."

COMMON GOODS IN THE CITY.
LET'S TAKE CARE OF THEM!

We are the community living in VillaRoth, a building in the neighborhood of San Pasquale (Bari) that dates back to the late nineteenth century. After a dispute with the Municipality of Bari over housing rights and social and working inclusion of native and migrant people, we have been recognized in the Fall of 2015 as an emergency residence.
In the past seven years the property has become an open, supportive self-managed house, and a housing guarantee where we have the opportunity to live peacefully and continuously and to take care of the space.

In the building we share rooms and common areas, where we organize to take care of the daily chores. We also carry out activities such as recycling and hosting/organizing the desk FuoriMercato in collaboration with the Refugee Work Group to offer advisory and support about legal documents and working rights.

After seven years, the building requires both ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and redevelopment.

The rooms and common areas are facing some issues such as infiltration and mold; electrical sockets need to be replaced; the walls should be repainted; some frames and locks must be replaced.

Structural works, instead, have been addressed to the Municipality of Bari, with a request of extraordinary maintenance. As we are waiting for an answer from the Municipality, we have agreed that it’s time to start to take care of ordinary maintenance.

We, the inhabitants of Villa Roth, will carry out the work, together with non-resident people of Villa Roth and the #solidarity realities of the city and beyond.

The following materials and tools are required in order to start the activities:
- stucco and plaster
- painting and “ducotone”
- scraping paper
- scaffolding and stairs
- brushes and rollers
- helmets and gloves
- electrical sockets and wires
- scotch tape and cellophane
- joinery material
- lockers

For the purchase of these goods, we ask for a contribution so that Villa Roth can be redeveloped by those who live there and at the same time continue to be a common good of the city.

In support of the redevelopment work plan, on February 27th, during the 1st meeting of the "Beni Comuni in città" tour, held in the gardens of Villa Roth, the realities promoting the Popular Observatory for the Beni Comuni Di Bari (Bread & Roses, Studenti Solidali, Gruppo Lavoro Rifugiati, Parco Gargasole, Expost Moderno, SOS Scuola Open Source, FuoriMercato - autogestione in movimento), have decided to support us and to participate in the regeneration and care of a public property in the city, to be safeguarded also for its architectural beauty.
